BeamNG Mod Manager 🧡 v0.7.1 + v0.7.2 + v0.7.3: Three Releases, One Mission: Making BMM Bulletproof

Released July 9–10, 2026

Hey everyone! 👋 Quick heads-up on a rapid-fire trio of releases. No flashy new buttons this time — these three are all about making sure the app never loses, breaks, or mishandles a single byte of your stuff. It's "sleep-better-at-night" work (for you and for me 😄), and it goes deep. Here's the tour:

🏠 v0.7.1 — A tidier home for your data

BMM's data folder now has the proper name: What used to live in the original name I had when I started building this (%APPDATA%\beamng-mod-catalog) now lives in %APPDATA%\BeamNG Mod Manager. The move happens automatically the first time you launch — catalog, loadouts, thumbnails, settings and Patreon connection all come along, and there's nothing you need to do. (Your Mod Storage folder is untouched.)

🛡️ v0.7.2 — Your settings and membership, armored

Startup can't wipe your setup — if antivirus or the Windows search indexer briefly locks a data file right as BMM launches, BMM now retries — and if it still can't read the file, it refuses to overwrite it. A momentary lock can no longer reset your settings or blank your catalog.

Your folders stay YOUR folders — if your BeamNG, BeamMP or mods folder lives on a USB or cloud-synced drive that's momentarily offline, BMM keeps your saved choice instead of quietly retargeting to a different install.

Steadier Patreon connection — sign-in can't be cancelled mid-flow by a stray local request, and membership checks fail on the safe side. (We also fixed a server-side edge case that could have downgraded paying members if we ever slipped on our own configuration — it never happened, and now it can't.)

🔧 v0.7.3 — Hardening across the board

Mod files handled with white gloves — moving a mod between drives now makes sure the copy is fully on disk before the original is removed, and an interrupted activation can never leave a half-written zip in your game folder.

Smarter "likely the same mod" detection — different trims of a car (a GT vs a GTR, say) are no longer lumped together as the same mod.

Honest about broken files — a zip with no files inside now shows up as broken instead of pretending to be a duplicate, and a deliberately malformed zip can no longer crash the library scan.

Loadouts keep their promises — restoring the same backup twice no longer creates "(restored 2)" copies, importing a loadout file reports save problems honestly, and a loadout applied right as mods are being re-imported no longer leaves a just-restored member inactive.

Privacy & security — your Patreon renewal token is now only ever stored under Windows secure storage; quitting with unsent (opt-in, anonymous) usage stats can't make BMM linger in the background; the app runs on the latest Electron security patch; and our online services gained extra protection against abuse.

None of this is glamorous — and that's exactly why it matters. This is the kind of work your support pays for: the app you already trust, made harder to break. With the foundation this solid, the next batch gets to be the fun kind.

Thank you, as always, for making BMM possible. 🙏
