BeamNG Mod Manager 🧡 0.8.0 is live! DUPLICATE DETECTION IS NOW FREE FOR ALL. 😁
Hello everyone!
Stoked for this one, made a big change a lot of you will love.
If you spend enough time in BeamMP, you've probably watched this happen, you join a server, it downloads all the mods you need, you play, you bring those mods into your library… and slowly your BMM manager and game mod folders fill up with copies of mods you already had — same car, same map, just under a slightly different name each time. Over time it adds up and wastes space and takes time to manage. Now BMM can help that automatically. 0.8.0 fixes that at the root. 😁

🧹 Automatic duplicate cleanup
When you import a mod that's byte-for-byte identical to one you already own — even if the file has a completely different name — BMM now folds it into your existing library entry automatically. The redundant copy goes to your Recycle Bin. Nothing is ever stored twice, and you don't have to lift a finger.

📦 Version housekeeping
Mods update; old versions pile up. Now BMM keeps the newest versions of each mod — you choose how many, anywhere from 1 to 6 (default is 2: the current one plus the previous) — and tucks older ones away for 7 days in a new cleanup log, with one-click undo, before they're recycled. Nothing is ever gone for good by surprise. You'll find the slider and the log in Settings → Duplicates & versions.

And if a BeamMP server you love runs an older version of a mod? BMM leaves that older download in the launcher's own cache instead of dragging it into your library — so you get clean storage and fast joins.

🎁 The Duplicates tool is now free for everyone
This one matters to me. The duplicate-finding tools used to be a paid feature. But BMM's own workflow was part of what created those duplicates in the first place — and it never sat right to charge to clean up a mess the app helped make. So, the entire Duplicates system is now free, for every user, for good. 🤝

A straight word on safety
"The app deletes files automatically" deserves an honest answer: BMM only ever removes a copy when it can prove it's the same mod — identical bytes, or the mod's own repository identity plus a clear version order. Anything it's unsure about, it leaves for you to decide. It never touches a mod you currently have turned on. Everything goes to the Recycle Bin or a 7-day undo window — never a hard delete. There's even a new identity engine under the hood that recognizes mods the same way BeamNG.drive itself does, so a renamed file can't fool it.

It will run a quick "rescan" on first launch, then will quietly tidy up whatever duplicates are already sitting in your library. Then it follows your choice in the settings for how many old versions to keep. Let me know what you think, and if anything looks off, the bug-report link is right in the app.
I really appreciate your support. It is what lets me build things like this properly — carefully, safely, and for everyone. Thank you, genuinely. 🧡
Cheers!
